Welder
Position Overview
MetronCS Commercial Services is seeking skilled Welders to perform structural and decorative welding, fabricate metal components, and certify weld integrity on commercial construction projects. You'll work with various metals and welding processes to create structural connections, decorative elements, and metal fabrications. This skilled trade role requires precision, attention to quality, and commitment to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural welding for steel connections and frameworks
- Perform decorative welding for handrails, railings, and architectural metal work
- Fabricate metal components including brackets, plates, and custom elements
- Operate welding equipment including MIG, TIG, and stick welders
- Read and interpret welding drawings and specifications accurately
- Certify weld integrity through visual inspection and testing
- Perform weld preparation and fit-up for proper joint welding
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition
- Follow welding procedures and quality standards precisely
- Coordinate with structural steel crews and other trades
- Work at heights when performing structural welding connections
- Document welds and maintain welding records
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of structural or commercial welding experience
- Proficiency with multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, stick)
- AWS certification or equivalent welding credentials
- Ability to read and interpret welding drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of weld quality standards and inspection
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between project sites
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercial or structural steel welding
- Multiple AWS certifications (MIG, TIG, Stick, Structural)
- Experience with decorative metal welding and architectural elements
- Fabrication and layout skills for complex weld assemblies
Certifications Required
AWS (American Welding Society) certification required for structural welding. Valid welder's certification or qualification records required. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work on active construction sites, including working at heights and in confined spaces. Must be able to stand for extended periods while welding, perform repetitive motions, and tolerate high heat and bright light from welding arc. Full PPE compliance including welding helmet, safety glasses, gloves, apron, and steel-toed boots required. Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.
