Job Summary
MetronCS seeks an expert Waterproofing Specialist to join our Building Envelope division. You will specialize in below-grade and above-grade waterproofing applications, vapor barriers, and moisture protection systems. Your expertise will ensure commercial properties, including QSR and restaurant facilities, remain protected from water intrusion and environmental damage.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply below-grade waterproofing membranes and coatings to foundation walls and basement areas
- Install above-grade waterproofing systems on balconies, decks, and exposed areas
- Apply vapor barriers and moisture protection systems to prevent condensation and moisture migration
- Install and seal flashing, joints, and transitions to prevent water infiltration
- Perform surface preparation including cleaning, priming, and substrate repair
- Conduct moisture testing and diagnostics to identify waterproofing issues
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and drainage teams to integrate systems effectively
- Maintain meticulous quality control to meet building code and client specifications
- Document all work performed, materials used, and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior team members on waterproofing best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional waterproofing installation experience
- Expert knowledge of below-grade and above-grade waterproofing systems
- Proficiency with vapor barriers, membranes, and moisture protection coatings
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- Strong understanding of building codes and water management principles
- Physical ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Waterproofing Contractor certification or equivalent license
- Experience with polyurethane, silicone, and acrylic waterproofing systems
- Knowledge of green roof and sustainable waterproofing practices
- Moisture meter and testing equipment proficiency
- Leadership experience supervising waterproofing crews
Certifications & Requirements
- WHMIS 2015 Certification (required)
- Fall Protection Certificate (required for above-grade work)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Valid driver's license with clean record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at heights and on steep surfaces safely
- Repetitive reaching, bending, and climbing throughout the day
- Capacity to handle and apply materials weighing 20-40 lbs regularly
- Tolerance for extended periods in confined spaces or high-humidity environments
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
