Structural Engineer

Job Summary
We seek a skilled Structural Engineer to design and analyze structural systems for restaurant and commercial construction projects. Your expertise in load calculations, material selection, and code compliance will ensure every structure is built safely and efficiently. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver structural solutions that support operations while optimizing costs across the Several Positions Open Across Canada and USA and North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Design structural systems including foundations, framing, and lateral load-resisting systems
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for commercial buildings and tenant improvements
- Ensure all designs comply with Ontario Building Code and applicable structural standards
- Prepare structural design drawings, specifications, and calculations for permit and construction
- Coordinate with architects and MEP engineers regarding structural integration
- Review foundation and framing requirements based on soil conditions and site analysis
- Evaluate existing structures for modifications and tenant improvements
- Review contractor submittals and steel/concrete shop drawings for compliance
- Conduct site inspections during foundation and framing phases to ensure quality
- Provide professional engineering recommendations and solutions for field conditions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license required
- 7+ years of structural design experience in commercial construction
- Expert knowledge of Ontario Building Code and Canadian design standards
- Proficiency with structural analysis software and AutoCAD or Revit
- Strong understanding of concrete, steel, and wood design principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing restaurant or food service facilities
- Knowledge of adaptive reuse and existing building modifications
- Experience with heavy timber or post-tensioned concrete design
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and soil-structure interaction
Certifications Required
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) License in Ontario or eligible for reciprocal license
