Project Architect

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to lead the design and technical documentation of restaurant and commercial construction projects. You will create comprehensive design solutions that balance client vision, operational requirements, regulatory compliance, and budget constraints. Your architectural leadership will guide projects from conceptual design through construction completion, ensuring quality, innovation, and adherence to building codes across the Several Positions Open Across Canada and USA and North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop restaurant and commercial facility designs that align with brand standards, operational requirements, and budget parameters
- Create detailed construction documents including plans, elevations, sections, and specifications for bidding and construction
- Conduct code analysis and ensure all designs comply with Ontario Building Code, health department regulations, and accessibility requirements
- Coordinate with structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other consultants to integrate all building systems into comprehensive design solutions
- Prepare design presentations and renderings for client review, incorporating feedback and maintaining design intent
- Lead design team meetings and manage consultant coordination to ensure timely document delivery
- Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent and specifications
- Conduct on-site inspections during construction to verify compliance with design documents and quality standards
- Address field conditions and design modifications while maintaining budget and schedule integrity
- Maintain detailed project files including approvals, correspondence, and as-built documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program; active professional architectural license required
- 8+ years of experience in commercial architectural design, with portfolio demonstrating quality work
- Expert knowledge of Ontario Building Code and ADA/AODA accessibility standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; experience with BIM workflows preferred
- Strong project management skills and ability to lead interdisciplinary design teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive restaurant, QSR, or food service facility design experience
- Knowledge of kitchen code requirements and food service layout standards
- Experience with design-build project delivery and fast-track construction
- LEED or sustainable design certification
Certifications Required
- Professional Architect License (OAA or equivalent)
