MEP Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing)

Job Summary

We seek a comprehensive MEP Engineer to design mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for restaurant and commercial construction projects. Your expertise in HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing design, and fire protection will ensure buildings operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. You will collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to integrate building systems into cohesive solutions that support operations across the Several Positions Open Across Canada and USA and North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems including equipment selection, ductwork, and control strategies appropriate for restaurant operations
  • Prepare electrical design including service sizing, distribution, lighting, and code compliance documentation
  • Design plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, grease traps, and specialty systems for kitchens
  • Design fire protection systems including sprinkler layouts and special hazard suppression where required
  • Ensure all systems comply with Ontario Building Code, electrical code, and health department regulations
  • Prepare detailed MEP design drawings and specifications for permit and construction
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to avoid conflicts and optimize efficiency
  • Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with design intent
  • Conduct site inspections during rough-in and final installation phases
  • Address field conditions and provide professional engineering solutions for technical challenges

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license required
  • 7+ years of MEP design experience in commercial construction
  • Expert knowledge of Ontario Building Code and applicable mechanical, electrical, and plumbing standards
  • Proficiency with MEP design software and AutoCAD or Revit
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific experience designing restaurant or food service facility systems
  • Knowledge of kitchen hood design and makeup air requirements
  • Experience with grease trap sizing and drain design for food service
  • Familiarity with energy modeling and sustainable building systems

Certifications Required

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) License in Ontario or eligible for reciprocal license
