Job Summary
MetronCS is seeking an experienced Low-Voltage/Data Cabling Technician to join our MEP & Interior Build-Out team. You will install structured cabling systems, security cameras, access control, POS networks, and Wi-Fi infrastructure for commercial properties. Your technical expertise will enable seamless communications and security for restaurants and retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a structured cabling and termination systems
- Route and install conduit, cable trays, and cable management systems
- Terminate and test all data connections per TIA/EIA standards
- Install security camera systems, DVRs, and network video systems
- Install access control systems, card readers, and door hardware
- Install wireless access points and Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Install POS network cabling and connections for retail operations
- Install telephone and communication systems integration
- Test and certify all low-voltage systems for functionality and compliance
- Coordinate with electrical and IT teams for system integration
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional low-voltage and data cabling installation experience
- Expert knowledge of structured cabling standards and practices
- Proficiency with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a termination and testing
- Experience with security and access control systems
- Strong understanding of network basics and equipment
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Network+ or similar networking certification
- Certified Cabling Installer (Fluke Networks, Panduit, or equivalent)
- Experience with commercial security system design and integration
- Knowledge of building automation systems and controls
- Supervision or project management experience
Certifications & Requirements
- Certified Cabling Installer certification (required or working toward)
- WHMIS 2015 Certification (required)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Valid driver's license with clean record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at heights using ladders and access equipment
- Capacity to lift and carry 30-50 lbs regularly
- Fine manual dexterity for detailed termination and connection work
- Sustained standing, climbing, and reaching throughout the day
- Ability to work in confined spaces and variable environmental conditions
