Job Summary
MetronCS is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our MEP & Interior Build-Out team. You will install, test, and commission commercial HVAC systems, kitchen makeup air units, exhaust systems, and refrigeration equipment for restaurants and QSR operations. Your technical expertise will ensure optimal climate control and air quality in demanding commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install commercial HVAC equipment including air handling units, rooftop units, and split systems
- Size, fabricate, and install ductwork for supply, return, and exhaust air
- Install and commission kitchen makeup air units and specialized exhaust systems
- Install walk-in coolers, freezers, and refrigeration systems in commercial kitchens
- Connect refrigerant lines and perform evacuation and charging procedures
- Install and wire thermostats, controls, and building management system integrations
- Perform system balancing, testing, and commissioning per specifications
- Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC and refrigeration equipment issues
- Ensure all installations meet building codes and energy efficiency standards
- Maintain detailed documentation and coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC installation and service experience
- Expert knowledge of HVAC equipment, ductwork, and refrigeration systems
- Valid EPA Certification for refrigerant handling (required)
- Strong understanding of building codes and energy codes
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- HVAC Journeyman certification or equivalent license
- Extensive experience with commercial kitchen HVAC systems
- Knowledge of building management systems and controls
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs
- Leadership experience supervising HVAC crews
Certifications & Requirements
- EPA Certification for Refrigerant Handling (Type I, II, or III) (required)
- HVAC Technician License (preferred, requirements vary by province)
- WHMIS 2015 Certification (required)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Valid driver's license with clean record
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs regularly
- Capacity to work at heights on roofs and mezzanines
- Sustained standing, bending, and reaching throughout the day
- Fine manual dexterity for small connections and adjustments
- Tolerance for heat, cold, and variable working conditions
