Position Summary
MetronCS is seeking a skilled Hood & Exhaust System Installer to join our restaurant systems team. You will install, connect, and test commercial kitchen hoods, ductwork systems, makeup air units, and fire suppression systems. Your expertise in kitchen ventilation, mechanical coordination, and code compliance will ensure every restaurant has safe, efficient ventilation systems that handle high-volume cooking operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install commercial kitchen hoods with proper mounting and structural support
- Route and install exhaust ductwork through building structure to rooftop termination
- Install and connect makeup air units with dampers and controls
- Connect hood dampers and automatic controls to ventilation systems
- Install fire suppression systems within hood cavities and ductwork
- Connect fire suppression to cooking equipment shutoffs and alarm systems
- Install ductwork access panels and cleanout doors for maintenance
- Perform ductwork sealing and insulation as required by code
- Coordinate electrical connections for hood fans and controls
- Test ventilation airflow and verify proper balance and performance
- Inspect all ductwork connections and seals for air-tightness
- Ensure code compliance with local ventilation and fire code requirements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial kitchen hood and exhaust system installation experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen ventilation design and requirements
- Experience installing ductwork, dampers, makeup air, and fire suppression systems
- Ability to read HVAC and fire protection drawings accurately
- Understanding of building codes and ventilation code requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fire suppression system installation and testing
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and controls
- Understanding of makeup air design and commissioning
- Project management or coordination experience on complex systems
Certifications Required
- N/A - willing to provide training
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at significant heights on roofs and scaffolding
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly (ductwork can be heavy)
- Comfortable working in confined kitchen spaces during installation
- Comfortable working around hot cooking equipment and active kitchens
