Estimator/Cost Consultant

Job Summary

We seek a detail-oriented Estimator and Cost Consultant to prepare comprehensive cost estimates and manage project budgets for restaurant and commercial construction projects. Your expertise in cost analysis, value engineering, and bid management will support profitable project execution and competitive bidding. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver accurate cost assessments that drive business decisions across the Several Positions Open Across Canada and USA and North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates from architectural and engineering drawings for bidding and budgeting
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work
  • Analyze bid proposals from subcontractors and suppliers for competitiveness and accuracy
  • Develop value engineering recommendations to optimize costs without compromising quality
  • Manage project budgets and track expenses against estimates throughout construction
  • Monitor market trends and supplier pricing for cost control and forecasting
  • Prepare change order estimates and cost impact analyses for design modifications
  • Compile historical cost data and metrics for future estimate accuracy improvement
  • Coordinate with construction managers on budget management and cost control strategies
  • Prepare cost reports for management and ownership on project financial performance

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction cost estimating experience in commercial or restaurant construction
  • Expert knowledge of construction costs, labor rates, and material pricing
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel for cost analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in quantity takeoff and calculations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for cost reporting and negotiation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific experience estimating restaurant, QSR, or food service construction projects
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment specifications and pricing
  • Professional estimating certification (AACE or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D takeoff tools
