Environmental Consultant
Position Overview
MetronCS Commercial Services seeks an experienced Environmental Consultant to conduct Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, manage contamination remediation, and ensure environmental compliance on commercial construction and renovation projects. You'll assess site conditions, develop remediation strategies, coordinate regulatory approvals, and oversee cleanup activities. This role is critical for managing environmental risks and ensuring projects meet all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) for commercial properties
- Perform Phase II ESAs including soil and groundwater sampling and analysis
- Identify and assess contamination conditions and hazardous materials
- Develop remediation plans and strategies for identified contamination
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies (EPA, state/provincial environmental departments)
- Obtain environmental permits and approvals for remediation activities
- Oversee remediation contractors and verify cleanup completion
- Manage environmental testing and compliance documentation
- Prepare environmental reports and regulatory submissions
- Conduct site investigations and sampling according to protocols
- Assess hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, and mold
- Coordinate environmental due diligence for construction projects
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of environmental consulting experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Environmental Professional (EP) certification
- Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards
- Experience with Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments
- Knowledge of remediation techniques and contamination management
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with restaurant or commercial property assessments
- Remediation Project Manager (RPM) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) certification
- Knowledge of ASTM E1527 Phase I ESA standards
- Experience with environmental litigation support or forensic investigations
Certifications Required
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Environmental Professional (EP) certification required. Must maintain current professional certifications and continuing education. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work both in office and on-site at contaminated or hazardous locations. Must be able to walk over uneven terrain, access potentially contaminated areas, and wear protective equipment including PPE and respirator when needed. Ability to conduct sampling activities and operate field equipment. Valid driver's license required for project site visits.
